With their canoes, corrals, crates, trucks and "hit men," USDA Wildlife (Extermination) Services has silently crept back into New York City -- much to the despair of myself and many other caring New Yorkers:

According to the latest report from Goosewatch, NYC, the USDA vans were not spotted near JFK airport today. They can be presumed to already be on the job of rounding up for slaughter, hundreds of NYC's beleaguered and forever tormented, Canada geese from city parks, golf courses and even a so-called, wildlife "refuge." (Jamaica Bay.)

One is at loss of what to say at this point.
.
The cries of the people for tolerance and decency have continually fallen upon deaf ears as the actions of wanton massacre move forward, unencumbered, unchallenged and unreported by the media.
.
One can hope that someone running, cycling or walking their dog early in the morning might happen upon a USDA goose roundup and photograph or capture video on their cell phone. One can hope that such person might have press or political connections.
.
But, based upon the last three years, that is highly unlikely.
.
Mostly, these roundups occur without the awareness and attentiveness of passers-by, much less any pro-active efforts.
.
Wildlife Extermination Services depends upon people being otherwise engaged and not wanting to make waves.
.
As NY State Director of Wildlife Services, Martin Lowney, said some years ago in a private conversation, "Sure we understand that some people get upset. But, then they go home and watch football."

That was the one thing he said during several conversations that I had no come back or answer to, because I knew in my heart, Lowney was right.
.
And these days, it isn't just "football" that captures people's attention and devotion, but thousands of images and diversions available through social and digital media. Add to that, what appears to be, obsessions with personal exercise, appearance, diet, health, etc, etc, it's a wonder most of us can even see where we're going, much less what is actually happening around us.

But, in NYC today (and for the next several weeks), "There is something happening here."

The question is, will most of us be too busy and too diverted to even notice, much less care? --PCA
